Experiments in Nuclear Physics require usually the sensitive
detection of photons, ions, or neutrons.
The development and improvement of new techniques for
detection and analysis can therefore trigger new
findings in physics. Our research group is involved
in the following projects within this field:

Major involvement for the development, building and test of the neutron detector
"NEULAND" within the scope of the
R3B collaboration for
FAIR.

New developments in digital signal processing for particle
and gamma detectors.

Detection of long-lived radioactive isotopes with highest sensitivity at
CologneAMS, a center for high performance
Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS). Applications range from the geosciences,
oceanography, pre- and protohistory, archaeology, environmental sciences, biophysics, to
(Nuclear) Astrophysics.
The construction of CologneAMS has been financed by the
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and the
University of Cologne (UoC).
The projects are supported by Deutsche
